Specialist appointment

This morning Brandon and I went to my Maternal Fetal Medicine Doctor appointment. Before we went I took a pregnancy test since I should be starting this weekend. It was... POSITIVE. We are excited and nervous of course. I was supposed to see Dr. Branch but he was unable to see his patient's this morning so I saw Dr. Jackson instead. He was very nice and knowledgeable. They did an ultrasound first and told me they most likely would not see anything yet since I have not yet missed my period but they wanted to make sure there was not free fluid which could indicate a ectopic. They could not see the baby yet but there was not any free fluid so that was a good sign. He talked about the 5 reasons that women miscarry. Genetic, Hormonal, Infectious, structural and Clotting. Once he went through all the reasons he said that clotting was one to look into. They ran blood work and then if any of the tests come back positive then I will need to do Heparin shots. We will not have those results until next week sometime. He said that he would run a Quant HCG to see what my levels are at for this pregnancy and that he would like me to continue the baby Aspirin and Start Progesterone if the blood work was positive. Then once my levels are high enough they will do another ultrasound to hear the heart beat. They will see me weekly and do ultrasounds and then around 10 or 12 weeks they will send me back to Dr. England to finish out my prenatal care.

Dr. Jackson himself called me and told me my HCG level was 32. He felt this was a good number considering how early I am. He said he does not like to check HCG's every 48 hours since that will drive me crazy but would prefer that we recheck it next week. WOW, I am way excited but I really do not want to get my hopes up. I truly hope that Heavenly Father feels it is time for our family to grow.
